About Our League

2009 marks the 17th season of the Frontier League. The League was one of two Leagues that ushered in the era of Indepedent Professional Baseball in 1993. With 12 teams playing in two six team divisions the League is the largest and generally viewed as the best of all Independent Leagues. Nineteen former Frontier League players have made it all the way to the big leagues.

The League provides an opportunity for baseball players who have either gone undrafted out of college or have been released by major league organizations to either start or continue their career in professional baseball with the ultimate goal of reaching the major leagues.

The League has an age limit of 27 years old insuring that young aspiring and talented players get every opportunity to pursue their dream of playing in the "show". With a a salary cap of $72,000 per team players are paid on a scale of $600 to $1600 per month during the 3 and a half month season that stretches from mid May through early September.

The League has also provided the opportunity for communities like ours to host its own professional baseball team. Independent baseball has brought America's pastime to dozens of towns and cities throughout the country giving fans in those communities their chance to root for their own hometown team.

The League embodies the spirit of minor league baseball supplying affordable and fun family entertaiment for the communities and fans it serves.
