What is a HOST Family?

The 2011 season may seem like a long ways off but before you know it we'll be playing baseball in our new ballpark in Woodstock. When that first group of K Nines arrives in McHenry County they will come to us from all over the United States. One of the challenges that the team faces is to find a place where each of the 24 plus players can call home for the summer. To that end the team has begun to gather the names of those in our community that would be interested in "hosting" a player for the summer. With a League salay cap in place that dictates that player salaries range from $600 to $1600 the need for host family's is extremely important.

Host families provide a private room, a place to park their car, access to laundry facilities, and all the moral support you care to provide as these young men continue their pursuit to be a Major League Baseball Player.

In return the team provides complimentary tickets for every game you wish to attend, social events at the ballpark, and the opportunity to befriend a young athlete who will be forever grateful for your generosity.

There are many things that a minor league team asks of the community that it is in. Having 25 host families to house our players is one of our biggest requests.
